Earliest topographies were made on clay boards of tablets, papyrus sheets and scrolls which were hand-bound, costly and elaborately made with the emergence of codices. These materials mostly contain administrative documentations. In East Asia, the first book was printed during the Tang Dynasty dating back to 800 CE.

In Ancient Egypt, the use of papyrus was a medium of keeping accounts, there were evidences of this during the Fifth Dynasty years of King Neferirkare Kakai in somewhat close to 2400 BC, when calamus, a pointed reed or feather were used as a tool for writing on papyrus sheets that were glues together as scrolls spanning for as long as 10 meters or even more. The Egyptians took papyrus to other civilized settlements like Greece, Rome before the advent of parchment. The major invention of Books came with the development and necessity of writing, and the invention of other utilities like printing and discovery of paper.

What is A Book?

We can define books as printed or written pages bound, sewn or glued together with covers. Also, we can describe it as a number of sheets of paper mostly with prints on them, bound together inside a cover either made of a harder paper called cardboard.

The major contents of Books are information, histories, stories, poetry and administrative documentations. They contain instructions, knowledge, and wisdom of past ages, they are majorly the largest source of information anyone can get.

Categories Of Books

Books are best categorized into two major categories; Fiction and Non-Fiction, and then there are different types of books that are under these major categories.

Fictional Books: There category of book contain made-up information, but also with real facts and actual happenings elaborately stated so as to be able to create a story line. Examples of these books are sci-fi books or thriller literatures.

Non-Fiction Books: is based on societal happenstances, theme and issues, instructions on how to use or to act. Example of this is a biographical content of how someone has lived, or their deeds while they were alive. Also, details about adventure and travels are considered as non-fictitious.

Importance and Benefit of Reading Books

Books contain timeless compilations information and entertainments, hence, the benefits for reading books are numerous since they can hold lots of information, thoughts and stories that cannot be gotten elsewhere in the world. Reading books has been as the only form of personal entertainment over the years. Below are listed the importance and benefits of reading books as they improve our personality.
