After over 40 years of staying relevant, singer Yaw Sarpong and the woman with the golden voice Tiwaa who has sang with Yaw Sarpong over the years and the Asomafo Band, Asomafo meaning messengers have churned out hits and timeless songs with deep and encouraging lyrics. The indigenous gospel group has band members from Liberia and Sierra Leone.
Yaw Sarpong who was spotted by gospel legend Prof Kofi Abraham, prior to leaving for Liberia in the 80s where he established the Asomafo Band had already released his debut album (Adesrede3) which means Request in 1981.
They have released so many hits from Wo haw ne sen, Yen Nka Nkyere Yen Agya, Waye Awie, Hwan Na Adwendwen Da No So, Tenabea Fofro, Me to Nnwom and many other songs coupled with their famous peace song. This according to Yaw Sarpong was to remind Ghanaians to maintain the peace the nation enjoys. This was after his own experience in Liberia. He has also been involved in Prison projects which aims to give hope and transform lives.
Recently the veteran gospel singers, Yaw Sarpong and Tiwaa released the much anticipated song “Ahobrase3” which featured one of Africa's most decorated rapper and BET winner Sarkodie. They performed the song together on one of the most talked about virtual concert "The Black Love Concert" by Sarkodie.
