As we anticipate the outcome of the Bayelsa west and central senatorial bye-elections, there are strong indications, concerning Bayelsa west which seems the immediate past governor of the state, Rt Hon Henry Seriake Dickson, would emerge the occupant of the vacant senatorial seat to represent the people of Ekeremor/Sagbama in the red chambers of the national assembly.
Dickson has received numerous calls by the people of Bayelsa west, including relevant stakeholders, party leaders, and even members of the main opposition party in the state, which is the APC. The calls are for him to indicate interest to contest and represent the people as it seems he is the best option for the job.
One of those persons with a loud call and appeal for Dickson to contest for the election is a former stakeholder of the APC in the state, now a strong member of the PDP, Hon. Ebiks Lokpobiri. Lokpobiri pointed to the fact that Dickson is not only a good fit but the best fit for the job and there should no comprise for his election as Bayelsa west knows it wise enough to settle for only the best. In his statement, he said " Dickson is an advocate for the development of his people and channels a loud voice to appropriate means to attract development for his people, he has done everything to merit his election to the Senate. I am from Ekeremor and as a stakeholder in the Ekeremor polity, I made it clear to everyone that Ekeremor should respect the zoning formula which indicates Sagbama still has a turn to be in the Senate to represent the people of Bayelsa west and if you look into Sagbama you can not look beyond Dickson to be called to contest for the election, because he is the voice we need, fearless and dogged, also showcasing his love for his people at every given opportunity. Personally, I feel we need to plead with Dickson to accept our call to contest for the election."
