Today was a pretty great day for Manchester United. The red devils claimed a resounding 3-0 victory over Sheffield United, as they gave their Champions League qualification hopes a big boost.
And all three goals were scored by French striker Anthony Martial, who was in sensational form today as he revelled in an attack featuring academy graduates Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood, the former of which got two assists.
In doing so, Martial has now made a piece of history at Old Trafford.
Anthony Martial becomes the first Manchester United player to score a hat trick in the Premier League since Robin van Persie against Aston Villa in 2013.
His three goals against Sheffield United marked the first time a United player would be scoring a hat trick in SEVEN years.
The last person to do so was, as earlier mentioned, Robin van Persie, and that was all the way back in the Fegurson era.
So while Moyes, van Gaal and Mourinho were in charge, no player scored a hat trick in the League for Manchester United.
Huge feat from Anthony Martial, who has been quite maligned by the fan base for his consistency.
He certainly showed what he can do today.
