The utterances made by the Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria on 15th March 2022 during the UDA National Delegates Convention that he is one of the people who rigged elections for President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2017 has now put him in hot soup.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has now summoned Moses Kuria to appear before that commission to explain himself over the utterances.

In a letter dated 2022-03-26 Moses Kuria will be required to appear before the commission in accordance with electoral laws as stipulated in clause 6.

“You are hereby required to attend the offices of the commission at Anniversary Towers, Commission Boardroom 6th floor on Wednesday the 30th of March at 10.00 O’clock for examination by the Electoral Code of Conduct Committee over utterances you made during the UDA NDC at Kasarani,” read the statement in part.

The 2017 elections continue to be an egg in the face for the IEBC because it is definitely the only presidential election in Kenyan history which has ever been nullified by the Supreme Court.

When the NASA side filed a petition claiming that the 2017 presidential election was marred by multiple irregularities, the Jubilee side denied it however in the past three months the chickens have come home to roost as some Jubilee leaders now admit it openly.

Before Moses Kuria, the IEBC had to summon the Muranga Women Representative Sabina Chege who made similar remarks while addressing an Azimio rally in Vihiga County. Just like Kuria, Sabina stated that in 2017 their Jubilee side rigged elections.
