We have seen and witnessed four judges being interviewed for the position of Chief Justice, and yet they are still among those shortlisted for the supreme court judge positions. A question about whether it's necessary to interview them again arises, and this time from a Senior Lawyer Wahome Thuku.Picture for illustrative purpose.
Through his facebook post Wahome has listed atleast the four judges in question. Attached please find his facebook post as I captured it from his facebook timeline for your review.
"Justice Juma Chitembwe, Lady Justice Martha Koome, Justice Marete Njagi and Justice Nduma Nderi have all been interviewed for the position of Chief Justice and President of Supreme Court. They are all shortlisted for position of Supreme Court judge. Is it necessary to interview them again?" reads his facebook postPicture for illustrative purpose.
This facebook post attracted lots of reactions where different Kenyans gave different views and opinions as captured below.Picture for illustrative purpose.
*Yes, this is a requirement in the Constitution. This being the highest office in the judicial part of Government.
*The same lawyers like you will go to court to suspend the appointment on the streghth that interviews were never conducted as prescribed in law.
*No and not unless some people want to get more sitting allowances.
*For the Lady Justice Martha Koome, their is no need for she just needs appointment.
*Not necessarily, performance from the CJ interview which is of higher designate could be used to weigh out for possible placement on either of the two vacancies.
