According to a popular news blog on Twitter @thecableng, the governor of Borno state Babagana Umara Zulum went to visit the residents of Damasak after the insurgent group Boko haram attacked the town.
The governor spent the night in the town to console and motivate the residents that proper care would be given to them to stop future attacks.
The insurgents attacked Damasak with three gun trucks on Tuesday, occurring in the expatriation of inhabitants of the lovely town. The Governor confirmed that 18 people died while 21indiviuals were injured.
He gave the army an armored personal carrier and eleven patrol vehicles to help them in the fight against the terrorist group.
Some properties were destroyed in the attack including the gsm village, UN humanitarian hub, police station, the palace of the district head, a primary health care center, etc.
He says he hoped peace would return soon so all those residents who went to niger for refuge would return.
