The Member of Parliament for the North Tongu Constituency, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa raised concerns on the huge sums of the taxpayer's money that has been spent by the president of the country on his luxurious foreign trips. The MP called for a committee to be set up by the legislative arm of government to investigate the issue that he had raised. He also made a call on the Finance minister and Defence Minister to answer some two urgent questions about the cost of foreign travels of the president and the state of the country's presidential jet.

However, Hon. Afenyo-Markin recently said that the questions the North Tongu MP thought he had raised and thought was so urgent were all rejected by the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin. He added that the supposed urgent questions never exists and were not admitted by the Speaker to be addressed in the House.

Countering this claim made by the deputy majority leader, the North Tongu MP said the questions he raised to that were to be addressed by the Finance Minister and Defence Minister have been admitted. He added that Hon. Afenyo-Markin is throwing dust into the eyes of Ghanaians and did not expect that from his colleague in parliament. He further said the questions had been admitted by the Speaker and was advertised in the agenda for parliament's second meeting. The legislator still maintains his stand that the questions are urgent and needs to be addressed.

I think these questions that have been raised should be answered by the appropriate officials as mentioned by the Norge Tongu MP to clear the air about the issues raised. This I believe would go a long way to help us in making proper judgement of this issue.

What is your opinion about the peddling of falsehood and the issues raised by the MP? Kindly leave your comments below. Thanks for reading the article.
