The National Assembly has clarified that the speaker, Justin Muturi, is just fine and going about business of the day.
The parliament was clearing the air on the fake news circulation online that Justin Muturi was rushed to MP Shah Hospital in an NMS ambulance.
"This is Fake News, Such an unfortunate rumour. The @SpeakerJBMutur is as fit as a fiddle," National Assembly tweeted.
The NA also added a link to a live proceeding where Speaker Muturi is currently presiding over this afternoon’s sitting of the National Assembly.
Spreading of fake news have been rampant in the recent past and is becoming a challenge towards the 2022 general elections.
The government is on the look out for those disseminating fake and malicious news online and will be dealt with under cyber crime act.
Interior cabinet secretary Fred Matiang'i had promised to deal with those abusing social media through bullying.
"“We are a strong democracy and believe in divergent views. Abuse of social media is a major issue and we will do our work as the law says," he said in a past event while introducing a cybercrime team.
