Her Excellency the wife of the Governor Adamawa state and First Lady Hajiya Lami Ahmadu Fintiri joined her counterparts the Northern Governors wive's forum (NGWF) to attend the forum's meeting as well as witness the Inauguration and handing over of a drug rehabilitation centre built by wife of the Taraba state Governor Barr Anna Darius Ishaku.
Situated at the Jalingo specialist hospital, the center is a 14 bed capacity drug rehabilitation centre. It is also the first of its kind to be established in the North East part of the country.
Fully equipped, the center will admit drug related cases in order to stem the tide of drug addiction as well as to a reform addicts so that they can be reintegrated back to the society as useful members.
Speaking at the occasion, Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba state said the effort of Northern Governors wives Forum has meaningful impact both at the home front and the larger society with a view to rescuing those derailed by drugs. He lauded the move as commendable.
Governor Darius further challenged members of the NGWF who are yet to follow suit by building such edifices to quickly embark on doing so considering the fact that idrug abuse is a precipitatib factor in fuelling crime rate in the society . The governor also advised that they should ensure that Skills acquisition Centres are used to compliment the efforts of those rehabilitated so that they can be self reliant
The founder of Hope Afresh Foundation Barr Anna Darius Ishaku said handing over the centre to Government is for sustainability and continuity which she believes will stand the test of time.
In her remark, The chairperson of Northern Governors wive's Forum and wife of Niger state Governor DR Aminat Bello said the forum mooted the idea of erecting such a centre. She expressed delight that their Taraba state counterpart was quick to execute the project. She thereafter reiterated the commitment of the forum towards complimenting their husbands effort in making an impact on people Lives by taking such a major step which is in the right direction.
