Koome: "Lesson of Brotherhood, Friendliness From Justice Ouko And Me That Politicians Need To Learn"

As she is sworn in today, 21 May, 2021, Lady Justice Martha Koome is set to commence the difficult part starting officially from Monday.

Her Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu warmly welcomed her in the Supreme Court family and Koome reciprocated by embracing her deputy which was seen as a lovely sign and a memorable firm start towards the supreme journey which shall be headed by them.

Martha in her speech described Judge William Ouko as one among the few, starting all the way from being classmates in their schooling to Court of Appeal as Judges and Ouko being the President of the Court and now to Supreme Court where Martha being the superior and President of Court.

She says that they have had a memorable friendly and commendable relationship especially when they were candidates for the position of Chief Justice.

She has gone ahead to challenge politicians to emulate the same as it would take them to a greater step in life.

She takes office after a period of 4-5 months since the retirement of former Chief Justice David Maraga.

A lot is expected from her as we welcome her as first female Kenyan Chief Justice.
