Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior has said that the Senate will be very keen on the Political Parties Amendment bill 2021 after the bill was tabled at the floor of the house last week.
According to the Senator, the lawmakers will not support the bill blindly, and they will advocate for changes in areas that need amendment.
He however noted that in overall, the bill is good for the country as the clock tick towards the August elections.
"We will scrutinize the bill and make the necessary changes before passing it. But as Wiper, we have seen that the bill is beneficial to our country in ensuring that we have peace during the elections. The election violence we have been witnessing in the past will be dealt with by this bill,"said Mutula.
He went on to state that the proposed laws about pre-election agreement should be changed to post-election, where people will unite and work together after elections are held.
On political incitement, the second term senator proposed the relevant authorities led by NCIC to block those involved in the incitements from seeking positions of power in August.
"We do not want leaders who will be inciting violence, if I was the one they will not contest," he added.
