1 Major indication Wike May Have Won on PDP's Presidential zoning to South

Ahead of the 2023 presidential elections, there are a lot of controversies over the region that will produce the presidential candidate of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Many influential political players in the south had earlier kicked against the move of the PDP zoning committee headed by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State to zone the position of the National Chairman of the party to the south.

Several media reports which quoted sources within the Peoples Democratic Party revealed that the main opposition party had earlier concluded plan to zone its chairmanship position to the south, a decision that would have made it easy for northern politicians in PDP to produce the presidential candidate of the party.

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has been firm on his pursuit of a southern presidential candidate and countered the move for the north to produce the next President of the country.

However, the latest indication has shown that Governor Nyesom Wike may have won on the move for a PDP southern presidential candidate in 2023.

According to a report by The Cable, the southern Governors have voted for zoning of the position of National Chairman of PDP to the north, an indication that showed the PDP presidential ticket would be zoned to the south.

The report explained that Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, amongst other PDP Governors, voted for the position of the PDP National Chairman to be zoned to the north to allow the south to produce the PDP presidential candidate.

Although some political pundits believed that Governor Nyesom Wike's stand on the southern presidency in 2023 is because of his alleged presidential ambition, an allegation which the Governor had earlier denied
