NOPEU Party secretary general Rodgers Kipembe Mpuru has alleged why president Uhuru Kenyatta wants his deputy Dr William Samoei Ruto to resign ahead of 2022 general election.
He was reacting after the president in a recent interview dared his principal assistant to step aside instead of launching unnecessary attacks at the same government he is eating from.
According to the SG, the head of state wants the DP to resign before dissolving the parliament.
He said with the parliament dissolved nobody would approve Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC commissioners to make it meet quorum required to hold general election.
He said this will make it impossible to hold an election and in turn extend Uhuru's stay in office.
The SG claimed DP Ruto has sensed this intention by Uhuru and will never resign hoping to prevent such scenario.

"Come what may, DP Ruto can't resign. If he does, cheeky Uhuru will adhere Maraga's counsel to dissolve the Parliament. Since IEBC is not well constituted, there will be no election, in case of appointment, there'll be no Parliament to vet. So No. 2 has to cling there, hoping, " he claimed.
