Machakos governor Dr Alfred Mutua has been dealt a blow after Mwala Member of Parliament Vincent Musyoka alias Kawaya ditches him for deputy president Dr William Ruto's camp in preparation for 2022 general election.

This follows after Musyoka deserted Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCCP) and associated himself with United Democratic Alliance (UDA), a party led by deputy president Dr William Ruto.

The lawmaker ditched Dr Mutua, his party leader after attending several functions in the county where Dr Ruto has been its chief guest. Also, Musyoka has been supporting UDA's activities, including the past Machakos senatorial by-election campaigns where he drummed up support for Urbanus Ngengele.

On Sunday, Musyoka accompanied the DP to church service in Machakos where coronation of Rev Philip Muia as a bishop of African Inland Church (AIC) Machakos area took place. At the Bomani church, Musyoka became leaders who expressed kind words for Dr Ruto.

"Accompanied HE Dr. William Ruto during the coronation of Bishop Rev. Philip Muia as AIC Machakos area Bishop and his deputy Bishop Rev. Benjamin Kalanzo at AIC Bomani, Machakos," read part of Musyoka's Facebook post.

Moments later, the MP, together with the deputy president and other politicians addressed rallies at the Mwala town where 2022 politics dominated their discussion.

This is a blow to Dr Alfred Mutua since he has lost one of his footsoldiers even as he plans to run for the country's top seat in 2022.
