APC Muslim Youths Reject Tinubu’s Running Mate.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Muslim youths have rejected the choice of Senator Kashim Shettima as the running mate to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in the forthcoming presidential election.

They want Tinubu to replace the former governor of Borno with a Christian political leader or cleric from the North without any delay to enhance the party’s fortunes ahead of the polls.

Briefing journalists in Abuja on Tuesday evening, the leader of the group, Abdullahi Saleh, said they were vehement and total in the rejection of against a Muslim-Muslim ticket.

NANS Backs NLC, Joins Protest.

The National Association of Nigerian Students, South-West Zone, has declared support for the two-day planned protest by the Nigeria Labour Congress, towards ending the prolonged strike action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

The leadership of the zone, in a statement signed by its Coordinator, and Public Relations Officer; Adegboye Olatunji and Awoyinfa Opeoluwa, noted that Nigerian students had lost hope over the prolonged strike and did not know what was next again.

Buhari Gives Education Minister 2 Weeks To End ASUU Strike.

President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, to resolve the prolonged industrial action embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and other university-based unions.

The President gave the directive Tuesday after receiving briefings from the relevant government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) involved in the ongoing efforts to end the face-off with the university unions. Buhari had summoned them to get more information on why the strike had persisted for too long.

After Tuesday’s briefing, the President ordered the education minister to ensure that the areas of disagreements were sorted out within two weeks and report back to him.

We’ll Deliver Best-Ever General Elections – INEC.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday promised to deliver the best general elections ever in Nigeria in 2023.

Its chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, gave the assurance when he received delegations of the International Republican Institute (IRI) and that of the National Democratic Institute (NDI) in Abuja.

He said the meeting was the first that INEC was hosting after Saturday’s governorship election in Osun and assured that it would improve on its successes in subsequent elections. Prof. Yakubu also spoke about the governorship elections held in Ekiti in June and that of Osun held on Saturday.

APC Chieftain Abducted, Police Hunt For Kidnappers.

The Chairman of All Progressives Congress in Ugu Ward in Orhionmwon Local Government Area, Edo State, Godwin Aigbogun, has been kidnapped by suspected hoodlums.

He was reportedly kidnapped on his way from his farm on Monday evening.

A chieftain of the APC in Ugu, who pleaded anonymity, said he was informed of the kidnap by political associates. A statement by Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Police Command, Jennifer Iwegbu, on Tuesday also confirmed the kidnap of the of the APC chieftain.
