There is no doubt that some sounds actually triggers an over-the-top emotional reactions for some people. Some of this sounds includes snoring, chewing and much more. We have people who can't even sleep beside someone who snors for just 10 minutes due to their hatred for such sound. Meanwhile, sleeping beside someone snoring does not triggers any emotional reactions for some people.

However, those who hate some of this sounds might feel it's a normal thing, that they just hate those sounds. Well, I want you to no that it's not a normal thing because you might be suffering from "Misophonia".

What is Misophonia?

Misophonia is a disorder in which certain sounds trigger emotional or physicological responses that some might perceive as unreasonable given the circumstances. The reactions of those who have Misophonia range from anger and annoyance to panic and the need to flee.

According to research and report, people with Misophonia are triggered by oral sounds such as the noise someone makes when they breath, eat, or even chew. However, Doctors are yet to decipher the cause of Misophonia.

How do you treat it?

Treatment often involves a multidisciplinary approach combining sound therapy by audiologists and supportive counselling in which coping strategies are emphasized.
