Topic: Government blames alcohol gatherings for Covid-19 spread but not political gatherings.
"Large gatherings, especially those which involve the consumption of alcohol, are a major risk and undermine our efforts to contain the spread of the virus," Cabinet said post cabinet briefing
This is happening when the country is faced with rapidly increase in covid-19 daily infection rate and by that statement, it is clear that government is blaming alcohol more than political gatherings.
Bare in mind, few days ago, political parties were involved in political campaigns which gathered its members in different provinces for the purpose of local government elections which was held on the first on November 2021.
Looking at the statement by government of the republic of South Africa, its like the virus can distinguish between gathering for voting campaigns and gathering for alcohol consumption. At the moment, political gatherings should be the one blamed more because theu were so visible in past weeks.
