Also it has been noted that there is a shortage of Tocilizumab a Covid-19 drug needed by seriously ill patients. The drug increases chances of survival and reduces the need for mechanical ventilation for critically ill Corona virus patients.
The shortage has come at a very critical period since the numbers of infected people are increasing on a daily basis.
Unavailability of the drug makes ICUs and ventilators the only option for these patients yet they are also not enough. Nairobi hospitals' intensive care units are full and most of the patients are in need of oxygen.
Whereas some counties have been closed as a way of controlling the spread of corona disease, many Kenyans are seemingly relaxed because their counties were not affected and think Covid-19 won't affect them.
Exists have now revealed that although counties closed because of high rates of the disease are Nairobi, Kiambu, Machakos, Kajiado and Nakuru, all the other 42 counties have been affected too.
Recently, Governor Kiraitu Murungi (Meru) and former Nairobi governor, Dr Evans Kidero, contracted corona even after being vaccinated.
