It is quite pathetic as we take our mind to a trauma that took place in the boxing world on 24th June 1947. It was recorded that the first professional boxer, James Emerson Delaney (popularly known as Jimmy Doyle) to die in a match was knocked out by Sugar Ray Robinson, his opponent.

The interesting part of this incident is that the victim of the inadvertent homicide, Sugar Ray, had dreamt of this bad event to come. In his his own very statement he said;

"I woke up in a cold sweat, yelling for Jimmy to get up - get up - get up! My yelling woke me up, I guess. And the sight of Jimmy lying there on the canvas in the dream seemed do real that I had the jitters when I woke up. And I couldn't go back to sleep. I just laid there, tossing around in bed..And I felt lousy the next day. And in the back of my mind I felt scared every time I thought about the coming fight."

He wouldn't fight until a priest was summoned and he was assured by the priest that it was only a dream.

The fight took place on the 24th of June 1947 as fixed and Sugar Ray exchanged blows with his opponent, Mummy Doyle until the eight round. It was on the eight round that Sugar Ray delivered a punch which made Jimmy fall backward and hit his head against the ground of which he lost consciousness and never regained it. He was immediately rushed to the Charity hostipal after the countdown by the referee and he was said to have had a head injury. James Emerson Delaney, the then 22 year old professional boxer never woke up.

When Sugar Ray learnt that Jimmy Doyle fought the match to generate money and build his mum a house, he donated the money he got from his four subsequent matches to her for the project. It was also learnt that he made a $50 per month trust for over ten years to the parents.

With this I want to get your opinion. Who deserves to be blamed for the death of Jimmy Doyle? Sugar Ray or the priest?
