1. Ckay

His real name is Chukwuka Ekweani but he goes by the professional name, Ckay. He is a famous Nigerian singer, songwriter and record producer.

Ckay was born on the 16th of July 1995 to the family of Mr and Mrs Ekweani in the ancient city of Kaduna. The 26 year old was introduced to music when he was seven by his father who was a choir conductor.

By the time he turned thirteen, he had started producing beats and writing songs for a Christian music group. Doing this, he developed his musical skills. He is of the Igbo tribe of Nigeria.

In 2014, Ckay relocated to Lagos to pursue his music career fully. He signed up as a production intern with Loopy Music, giving him the opportunity to work under big time artiste M.I.

After the merger of Loopy Music with Chocolate City Music and M.I emerging as the new C.E.O, Ckay was signed into the record label. He became the official in-house producer for Chocolate City Music Label.

Since then, he has produced music for the likes of Ice Prince, MI Abaga, Jesse Jagz, Victoria Kimani, Dice Ailes, DJ Lambo, Koker, Blaqbonez, Barry Jhay and many others.

He worked on the Chocolate City debut album project titled, ‘TICBN Vol 1‘.

On the 3rd of November 2016, he was signed by the label as a recording artist. Thereafter he released an EP titled, ‘Who The Fuck Is Ckay‘. He has also released other songs.

The most recent one is ‘Container Don Land‘ where he featured indigenous rapper, Zlatan Ibile and South African artiste, Moonchild Sanelly.

2. Cheque

Born Akanbi Bamidele Brett but professionally known as Cheque is a Nigerian singer and rapper born on 23rd of March 1995 and hails from Ondo State.

He was born in Okitipupa, Ondo State and and grew up in Ondo Town. He attended Obafemi Awolowo University, Osun state where he graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering.

Cheque started music professionally while still a student in OAU and was then known as Kyle B, he however moved to Lagos state upon graduation to focus on his career.

He got signed to Cruel Station in 2017 alongside his friend, DML who later became Fireboy DML, the contract afforded them a house but eventually expired and they were thrown out to the street again.

He released mostly freestyles which he posted on his Instagram page and was one of the things that paved way to his signing into Phyno owned PentHauze Music in 2019.

His move to PentHauze was indeed a turnaround in his Career, his first appearance under his new imprint was in “Nyem Space,” a collective track featuring Phyno, Rhatti and Nuno Zigi released in March 2019.

Under PentHauze, Cheque first released three singles “Jeka Soro“, “Pain Away” and “Abundance” in June 2019 before solidifying his presence with “Razor EP” which rose to Top 5 Nigerian albums on iTunes, within 24 hours of it’s release.

Cheque was also featured in Olamide’s 2020 album “999” alongside Rhatti, Phyno, Cheque, Snow on a track that was titled “Warlords“.

3. Zinoleesky

Oniyide Azeez popularly known as Zinoleesky is a Nigerian musician and songwriter. Zinoleesky was born on 21st November 1995 in Lagos State. Zinoleesky is popularly for rejecting signing to Davido‘s Davido Music World (DMW) music label for Naira Marley‘s Malian Records.

Zinoleesky attended Lively Kiddies Nursery and Primary School, Lagos where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate.

He proceeded to Boys Secondary School Agege, Lagos State.

Zinoleesky’s journey into the music industry started at a very young age. However, he got inspired to keep pursuing his career in music after he was followed by popular Nigerian musician Kizz Daniel on Instagram after a rap video.

In 2019, award winning Nigerian musician Davido attempted signing Zinoleesky to his record label but he turned him down. Zinoleesky opted for Naira Marley’s Malian Records.

Zinoleesky so far has released a bunch of musics since coming to the limelight. Some of Zinolesky songs are Money, Popo, Caro feat Naira Marley, Who Knows, Vanessa, Ole, Fame.

In 2019, Zinoleesky acquired a Lexus Es350 sedan some months after turning down a record label deal with DMW.

4. Lil Kesh

Lil Kesh is a fast rising Nigerian singer, songwriter, entertainer, rapper, and a recording artist.

Lil Kesh was first discovered and signed to one of the biggest record label in Nigeria, YBNL, Owned and managed by Olamide.

Lil Kesh left YBNL Records upon the completion of his deal with his boss Olamide, Lil kesh is loved by Nigerians and he refer to himself as the king of the street.

So far Lil Kesh has make himself a force to reckon with in Nigerian Music industry, his music is well received by his fans across the World.

Lil Kesh was born March 14, 1995, and raised in Bariga, a suburb of Lagos State. He attended Stockbridge College for his primary and secondary education and then proceeded to the University of Lagos, (Unilag) where he Bag a degree in Linguistics. Later, he moved on the National Open University, Nigeria (NOUN) and studies Mass Communication online.

He came to limelight in Nigeria Music industry after releasing the hit single song, “Shoki“. “Shoki” which came with a dance style.

His career in music began in 2012 when he rapped among his colleagues in Bariga. Due to rapid growth he experience in music, he took music serious to blossom into a star who he is today. He was formally signed by music legend Olamide into his YBNL Nation.

He released “Lyrically”, a single which became popular at universities in Nigeria. In 2015, he was nominated for Best New Act at the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards. As a recording artist affiliated with YBNL Nation, Lil Kesh has established his own record label YAGI Records and is managed by Massive Management. The versatility and musical style of Lil Kesh is similar to that of Olamide, who raps and sings in his local dialect. However, he was criticized for using too much profanity and for failing to find the right balance in his songs’ lyrics.

5. Tems

Temilade Openiyi is her real name but widely and popularly known as Tems. She is a popular Nigerian alternative R&B singer, songwriter and producer with numerous hit singles.

Tems was born on July 23, 1995 in Lagos to a Nigerian mother and a British father. Tems family moved to the United Kingdom shortly after birth. Her parents separated when she was five years old and was raised by a single mother. She later relocated to Ilupeju, before moving to Lekki, Nigeria.

Tems studied at Dowen College in Lekki, Lagos. She also obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Economics in Johanesbourg University, South Africa.

Tems kick-started her musical career at a young age of 11 where she joined her school choir.

She became professionally known after her first single, “Mr Rebel” in August 2018, a music that shot her to limelight and made her a household name. The song was very successful and received massive airplay across Nigeria.

In 2019, Tems released another hit single, ‘Try Me’. The music was another record breaking with over 4 million views on YouTube. In 2020, DJ Edu chose her as one of “ten artistes to watch” that year. Again, the talented Nigerian singer was picked that year by an American singer Khalid to join him.

Tems also featured with top Nigerian stars like Nigerian Davido on an Afrobeats remix of ‘Know Your Worth’.

Tems has since released several hit songs, some of which include Try Me, Come Inn, Mr Rebel, Twisted Tilde, Ghost Detain, Looku Looku, Cruising, Epiphany, If U Then I, Old School, Essence.

The beautiful, versatile and highly talented Nigerian singer is also a music producer. She began music production at the age of 20 and has so far produced a number of songs.

Like any other human on earth, Tems was reportedly involved in a controversial issue while on a live performance. She was arrested alongside a Nigerian artist, Omah Lay in Uganda for violating Covid’19 safety laws. They have since been released and charges against them dropped. Tems' brilliant music has received wide acceptance, earning her awards and nominations some and most recent of which are 2019 Best Vocal Performance (Female) and Best Alternative Song at the Headies.

6. Jamo Pyper

Jamo Pyper is a multi-talented Nigerian singer, rapper and songwriter who does most of his music with the local Yoruba language.

He was born on the 20th of October, 1995. Jamo Pyper is a close friend to Naira Marley and Zlatan Ibile.

Jamo Pyper gained his major ground-shaking breakthrough after he featured Nigeria’s leading raves of the moment Zlatan Ibile and Naira Marley in his single “Omode Meta.” The single did not just bring him fame but also gave him the massive attention he is getting presently. He went ahead to drop yet another mouth watering single “Josi” which featured Chinko Ekun and Zlatan. This strategically confirmed his street credibility Jamo pyper’s net worth is estimated to be around $50,000 as of now and rising.

7. Zlatan

Omoniyi Temidayo is professionally known as ‘Zlatan’. He is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, rapper and dancer.

He was born on 19th, December 1995. He is the CEO of Zanku Records.

Zlatan was raised in Ilorin, Kwara State, but family lineage can be traced from Ekiti State.

Zlatan is a graduate with a National Diploma in business administration from Moshood Abiola Polytechnic.

Zlatan had plans on becoming a star footballer, but luckily for him, he’s doing excellently great in the music industry.

In 2013, he rose to stardom after he participated and won an Airtel-sponsored Mic talent music competition which was held in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Zlatan released a hit single titled “Zanku” rhythmed with a new dance move called “Leg Work” towards the end of 2018.

In 2017, he featured Olamide in a single titled “My Body”. The song went viral when a video of Davido dancing to the music Surfaces Online.

Ever since then, Zlatan had been collaborating with top artistes in the music industry like Burna Boy, Davido, Tiwa Savage, Naira Marley and many more.

In 2018, Zlatan Ibile gained more exposure after his collaboration with Chinko Ekun and Lil Kesh on the hit single “Able God“, which was well received by Fans.

In July 2019, Zlatan announced he signed an endorsement deal with Coca-Cola Company.

In April 2019, Zlatan was arrested by EFCC along side with Naira Marley with two others over alleged involvement in internet fraud and money laundering. He was later released after EFCC revealed he was innocent.

Zlatan Ibile was nominated for 2019 Next Rated at the Headies Award and lost it to Rema. He was nominated twice at the Headies Award and won nothing.
