Moments after the 2022 budget was rejected, news became rife that the speaker of parliament was going for a medical break at Dubai. It is not clear the motive of the leakage of such an information which should had remained confidential.

However one thing that became suspecios is that the attitude of the speaker in rejecting the 2022 budget and economic policy was the reason why his health status was leaked. Although unofficial, the persons behind the leakage of the document wanted the public to believe that the speaker was in a rush to go for medical leave hence his decision to put the question on the budget for voting even in the absence of NPP MPs.

According to a letter written to the head of Ghana's embassy in UAE, Sheba Nana Osei Afriyie, Head of Parliamentary Relations informed the embassy that, the Rt. Hon. Speaker will be traveling to Dubai on Saturday, 27th November for medical check up with three dignatories including his wife, head of parliametary clinic, his personal secretary and his aide. It requested for courtesies to be extended to the speaker and his entourage as they arrive.

According to the letter, the team is expected back in Accra on 14th December 2021.

The 2022 Agyenkwa Budget was rejected by parliament yesterday. This was after the NPP MPs together with the only independent MP staged a walk out. The NPP MPs were not happy with the speaker when he refused to sack Johnson Asiedu Nketia from the public gallery after he had walked Hon. Ken Ofori Atta out of the plenary. They accused Rt. Hon. Bagbin of political bias before walking out.

Do you think the budget was rushed at all? If yes, was it because the speaker was going for treatment? But there are other two deputy speakers who could had stepped in in his stead. Take to the comments section if you have an answer to any of these questions.
