In a league match played in Durban on Wednesday night, Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu settled for a sharing of the spoils.

Deon Hotto scored the game's first goal for Pirates, but Tshepang Moremi equalized late in the first half with a goal.

As the visitors took the game to AmaZulu, Pirates got their first sight of goal in the ninth minute when Olisa Ndah's header flew wide of the mark.

On the other side of the half, Tercious Malope and Fortune Makaringe both saw their shots go wide.

In the 29th minute, Pirates opened the scoring with a superb team goal by Hotto, leaving Veli Mothwa helpless.

Usuthu knew they needed to attack more, and they did so with Keagan Buchanan's 33rd minute effort going wide, and Andre De Jong's three minutes before the break also missing the target.

On the stroke of halftime, Benni McCarthy's tenacity paid off as Moremi pounced on some shoddy Pirates defending.

The Pirates were on the front foot in the second half, with Makaringe missing the goal and Mothwa denying Kwame Peprah and Collins Makgaka.

In the last third, both sides exhibited increased intensity and urgency in their pursuit of a winning goal.

Late in the game, though, it was Pirates who had the better chances, as Thembinkosi Lorch and Peprah's efforts soared.
