The University of Cape Coast’s decision to confer an honorary degree on President Akufo-Addo drew a lot of reviews. Many tongues asked what caused this sudden decision to award the president an honorary doctorate degree. Many political figures came out to contest this decision to award this award to the First Gentleman of the Land.
In the earlier communique that was released, President Akufo-Addo was to be conferred with a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership (Honoris Causa) on May 29, 2021 at 10:00am. The event was meant to be a special congregation to honor the president.
However, in a new twist of events, the University of Cape Coast has released a new communication. According to the new communique, the conferment will still come off on Saturday, May 29, 2021. However, the time has been changed to 11:30am. The university expressed apology to anyone who had made plans per the first release.
