Coach Samuel Boadu has written his name on the board clearly and has become a standout gaffer for the rest of the season. He started with Medeama side in the premier league and went two season's without a trophy but was occupying the top position with 6 points interval. Due to some reasons, the league got canceled first was the Anas Expose and followed by Covid 19 pandemic that got the league truncated before this season started.
He has been a man of his words, slow but sure and will be delivering as we saw at Medeama. These were some of the agitations the aggrieved supporters want to see in the club, getting them a local coach which will be much convenient for the club to pay them and convince them to win a trophy. Boadu, who is 35years old, became the third coach to handle the Phobians this season after Edward Odoom who was reassigned to the junior side and Serbian trainer, Kosta Papic, who resigned last month.
At the 'outdooring' of the coach, Togbe Afede XIV emphasized that although the club had not set any target for the new coach, it was their logical expectation that Hearts would win just every trophy at stake and, therefore, the new coach had a responsibility to win laurels for the club. Choice of Boadu, The Hearts chief further explained that the decision to put the club's destiny in the hands of the 35-year-old coach was because he had been a long-term target of the club, hence he became a natural choice as successor to Papic who quit the job after just two months in charge. The former Medeama SC, Asokwa Deportivo and Shooting Stars coach penned a three and a half deal with the Phobians.
“We see him as a man of integrity who is looking for an opportunity, one which Hearts is able to provide him. The board is very confident that we have gotten the right person,” Togbe Afede XIV told Hearts media. “Our desire for him did not arise after the departure of Papic, he has been our long term target, the good news is that Hearts has been his long term target as well,” he added. The Phobians have endured a tough start to the season and are currently fifth on the league log after 16 games. Boadu begins his reign with a tough game against WAFA. Board Chairman of Accra Hearts of Oak, Togbe Afede XIV has stated that new coach Samuel Boadu will be solely responsible for bringing in his own technical support team.
The mantle has been cast upon the coach to deliver from all sector and the materials available for him. This is a better approach to get the requisite men to boost his training session and bench for him. The decision to allow the coach to go in for the technical support of his choice is because it will help them build immediate rapport and ensure that the respect is also in place. They all understand the work as a coach what you need to do as Togbe said, there should be progress or else the board can come any moment in time when things are not going on well. But this is not what we are craving for, Hearts of Oak needs to win themselves a trophy to bring back the love and spirit of the team, so let's all support the coach. It has been alleged in the past that the board of the club is notorious for meddling in the affairs of the technical team. However, Togbe Afede says the former Medeama gaffer will be given the freedom to decide who gets to be his assistant. “We have agreed that technical matters will be his responsibility, it does not prevent the board from making appropriate recommendations but that would be his domain.” He said at the unveiling ceremony.
