UDA Tallying Centre: Muthama's Ex-wife Takes Lead As Ruto Candidate is Trounced in Early Results

The counting exercise for the Machakos Senatorial by-election held on Thursdays has commenced.

Results streaming in from UDA tallying centre indicates that the Wiper Democratic Movement candidate Agnes Kavindu Muthama, ex-wife to former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama, is leading.

According to preliminary results by UDA Party tallying centre, which sponsored Urbanus Ngengele, Kavindu is leading with 13,475 votes from 178 polling stations.

Ngengele Muthama is at a distant second with paltry 4717 votes.

This results are however not official but were captured as per the feedback received from UDA agents from various polling stations.

This indictates that Kavindu might emerge victorious from the hotly contested by-election that saw Muthama and Kalonzo engage in a fierce battle to control the Eastern Region.

The battle was also labelled Kalonzo-Ruto duell as the 2022 succession politics takes shape.

The DP endorsed Urbanus Ngengele for the Senatorial seat.
