Security Expert, Dr Ishmeal Norman has named the Inspector General of Police, Ashanti Regional Minister, Municipal Chief Executive and the Military Command as those who should be held responsible for the shooting and killing of two persons that took place at Ejura Sekyeredumase in the Ashanti Region.
The Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Simon Osei-Mensah is on record to have admitted issuing the order for the deployment of the Security Personnel to Ejura Sekyeredumase during the protest by disgruntled civilians, following the death of Kaaka, a social media activist.
However, speaking on TV3 on Saturday, Dr Norman argues that the Ashanti Regional Minister erred by his failure to cross-check any briefing he might have received from the MCE of the area or seek for alternative advice before ordering the military.
Dr Norman further opined that the security services must pay attention to personnel management and control. He said although there have been a lot physical investment in recent times, including the establishment of forensic lab, little has been done in terms of investment in human resources through training.
He maintained that the shooting incident at Ejura for instance, could have been avoided if the security officers involved were trained on how to escalate a crowd of protesters.
