Modern day believers have misinterpreted the Scriptures to support their gross inadequacies on the Issue of tithing. Tithing which has been practiced by our Fathers of Faith such as Abraham and Jacob his grandson, sailed through the time of Moses; the Prophet of God, commended by our Lord Jesus and affirmed by the Apostles of Old has now been buffeted by modern day preachers which are destitute on the word of God, understanding neither what the affirm or teach.
They claim that tithing is a thing of the law thereby has been abrogated in this dispensation but the forgot that tithing was never brought by the law but has been before the law, practiced by our Father Abraham.
But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises. (Hebrew 7:6)
Tithe is not a ticket to Heaven but it is a requirement for all children of Abraham, it is done with a willing heart, with the intention of giving to God the tenth of all He has blessed you with. (Is that too much?)
Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. (Malachi 3:10)
Jesus Our Lord commended the Pharisees for tithing their smallest produce but also condemned them for forsaken the most important part of the Law.
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. (Mathew 23:23)
And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest, Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life. (Hebrew 7:15,16)
If tithe is paid to the priest, now we have a greater priest that is worthy to receive our tithe.
