As the country prepares for the 2022 general election, numerous prominent officials have been actively campaigning, particularly in the Mt. Kenya region. For a long time, the vote-rich region has been a battleground between President Uhuru Kenyatta's allies and those of Deputy President William Ruto, but till recently, Uhuru's allies such as Ngunjiri Wambugu, Kanini Kega, Maoka Maore, and others have claimed control.
After Rigathi Gachagua's last speech, all eyes turned to Uhuru's allies and those who oppose DP William Ruto. According to sources, the Mathira Member of Parliament stated that all lawmakers seeking positions in the Mt. Kenya region must go through Ruto.
"He added that the mountain is currently Ruto's stronghold, and that any politician seeking to rise to any seat in the region must have the DP's endorsement." According to K24 TV.
Although Maoka Maore, Kanini Kega, Ngunjiri Wambugu, Sabina Chege, and others have yet to answer, they are expected to do so. It is unknown whether they will seek Ruto's blessings, but only time will tell.
