Sombre mood engulfed Tanzania on Wednesday following the deaths of two prominent doctors in the Arusha, one of whom is the owner of St Thomas Hospital in Arusha.

 According to Tanzanian local Newspaper, Mwananchi, the doctors are Dr Lamweli Henry Makando, one of the owners of St Thomas Hospital who was a specialist and surgeon and Dr Simon Kavavila a pediatrician, died on Monday and Tuesday, after being admitted to St Thomas Hospital and later rushed to hospital. of KCMC.

 The doctors were all working at St. Paul's Hospital. Thomas, but they were also providing services at other hospitals, including a hospital owned by the Arusha Conference Center (AICC).

 Speaking to the co-director of St Thomas Hospital, Dr Julius Msuya said before his death, the doctors had been hospitalized together.

 He said Dr Makando had succumbed to Coronavirus.

 "We have suffered a great blow not only to the hospitals, but to the many residents of Arusha region," he said.

 He said Dr Kavavila himself died at KCMC hospital after being sent for further treatment
