Here is How Much Money 650,000 Tea Farmers in Kenya Will Each Get as Bonus This Year

The tea sector had suffered huge blows in the past few years where farmers got very low income when it came to the bonus that was witnessed across the country.

The farmers complained of the low amount of money that they had to contend with given that most of them, this is their main source of livelihood.

The government, however, is this year promising better returns for the farmers after the price of tea on the global markets rose to 51 Kenya shillings as per the reports that we have.

This morning, according to reliable reports from Daily Nation Newspaper, farmers finally gave something to smile about as the tea bonus will this year be a bit better than the last.

As per the reports that we have from the paper, farmers who hail from Kericho County and Bomet County will pocket this year's highest bonus payments with them getting 15 billion shillings after the tea earnings rose to a new record high.

Kiambu and Murang’a Counties which are considered region 1, will make away with a whopping 13 billion Kenya shillings.

Kirinyaga and Embu counties found in region 3 will receive a total of 8.97 billion Kenya shillings while Meru and Tharaka-Nithi Counties found in region 4 will get sum total of 8.46 billion Kenya shillings.

Murang’a and Nyeri counties which are considered region 2, will pocket a whopping 8.3 billion shillings while Kisii County and Nyamira County which are in the region 6 will earn a grand total of 6.94 billion Kenya shillings.

Nandi, Trans Nzoia and Kakamega Counties which are in the last region 7 will pocket a combined 1.76 billion bonus payments.
