Speaker of National Assembly Announces Date For Introduction OF BBI Bill in the House


The process of amending the 2010 Constitution has sparked a series of mixed reactions from leaders and stake holders across the country.

After approval from more than 42 County Assemblies across the country, the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) bill is headed to the next stage.

As Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga continues his campaign to popularize BBI in the Coast, a major breakthrough has come his way.

Hon Justin Muturi, The Speaker of the National Assembly, has finally issued an update on the Resolutions of the County Assemblies on the Draft Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill, 2020.

Speaker Justin Muturi has directed that the draft Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill, 2020, popularly referred to as the BBI Constitutional Amendment Bill, be introduced in the House for its First Reading on Thursday, 4th March, 2021.

After a debate in parliament, Kenyans will head into a constitutional referendum which is anticipated to take place later this year before the 2022 general election.
