In the dry season, as we find ourselves in Ghana now, there are always news of fire burns in our country, and unfortunately, one trader in the Sunyani Municipality in the Bono Region has been burnt to death.
According to eyewitnesses around, the trader is by name, Kwado Obeng, and he is 52 years old. They reckon that the fire started around 11 pm on Wednesday and burnt two separate wooden structures which were closer and housed their families. Aside from the trader who lost his life, one of the persons involved also sustained injuries.
The body of the deceased has since then been sent to the Sunyani Municipal Hospital Mortuary awaiting autopsy by the doctors.
The Regional Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service for Bono Region, ACFO Olivia Ayem confirmed the unfortunate news to Citi News saying “It involved a wooden structure with some occupants. We lost one person; 52-year-old Kojo Obeng,” she confirmed.
She also talked to Citi News about the second structure and what happened with the family who was in there. She revealed that the lady had multiple injuries.
“The second structure had a family; a woman and her husband with two children. We were able to rescue them, but the lady had some injuries – multiple injuries on the hands and the legs,” ACFO Olivia Ayem added.
