Belgium court has ruled that use of a COVID pass is illegal and ordered the local government to pay a daily fine of €5,000 until they withdraw the measure.
It's for a Southern region of Belgium called Wallonia (home to 3.6 million) and ruling was made in authorities absence due to a combination of holidays. The fine has been appealed & authorities will continue with the Covid pass whilst appeal process is ongoing.
Doesn't that tell alot about their mentality, they aren't even aware they are going outside the constitution. The arrogance of the system has become incredible. A holiday or constitutional rights, what's more important?
It is now down to the people in the U.K to question motives of this region in Belgium. I suspect this was timed to catch authorities out and round 1 given to those who brought the case. However it is not over until the fat lady sings.
Even one condemnation is already a shame. They don't even implement the court ruling. Wherever you are, not even going to the court says something about the mentality. They can for example go to the court and take another day off, but they don't even do that.
But the local council has appealed this already as they couldn’t be bothered to attend court as they were all on holiday and didn’t deem it important enough? Tells you everything you need to know really.
First the local government will appeal the verdict; then in case they still lose, the federal government will appeal and in case if they lose too, it goes to the Supreme Court (Raad van State); this whole process takes a few years, so don't get your hopes up.
It’s about time some judges start applying the law instead of applying personal emotions to their decisions. The mandates are all illegal and unscientific, It was never about safety.
