The All Progressive Congress (APC) may find two states difficult to secure in the year 2023 presidential election. The leaders of the ruling party are planning to retain power for the third time in a row to continue the party's winning streak. The chance that the All Progressive Congress (APC) may win the upcoming presidential election is higher than other political parties because the party is popular in the country in terms of political strength.

The ruling party has the highest number of governors in the country, and the members of the party majorly occupy those strategic offices in the country. Despite all the strength and the ability of the members of the All Progressive Congress (APC), two southern states may be difficult for the ruling party to control ahead of the upcoming general election. Although the party is a popular and powerful one, the ruling will find it difficult to win these two states.

1. Edo State

Firstly, the ruling party may find it difficult to secure its victory in Edo State because the party belongs to the opposition side in Edo State. The power of incumbency is with the members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The All Progressive Congress (APC) used to be a dominant political party in Edo State when Governor Godwin Obaseki was still a member of the ruling party before he was reelected into the governor's office for his second term tenure.

Having lost the previous gubernatorial election in the state, the ruling party's strength has dwindled satisfactorily. It is essential to note that the All Progressive Congress (APC) may still win the state during the upcoming 2023 electioneering process, but it is going to be difficult for the party to do so.

2. Anambra State

The other state that the All Progressive Congress (APC) may not capture in the upcoming presidential election is Anambra State. The ruling party is not a popular political party in the southeastern part of the country. The region is majorly dominated by the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) at the state level while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) usually controls it at the national level. The leaders of the ruling party have been trying to extend the popularity of the party towards the upcoming presidential election, but the popularity has not been enough in the state.

The All Progressive Congress (APC) may encounter difficulties in winning the states in the upcoming presidential election. The fact that the party is not in power will affect the party in Edo State, and its popularity may affect it in Anambra State.
