To apologize is like having a fruit of the Holy Spirit.
Apology - is a form of regret, remorse or sorrow for having wronged against another person.
The following are the 8 Characteristics of a Real, true and sincere apology.
1. The need of realizing and recognizing a mistake.
This is the act of understanding that you have done something wrong against someone.
Matthew 5:26-“Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift."
2.Being responsible and carrying the cross of your mistake.
This is taking ownership of the blame for doing wrong.
Galatians 6:7-" Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows."
3.Being regretful and remorseful for what you have done that does not please anyone.
Regret is to fell sorry, dissapointed or distressed about wrong doing.
Remorse is the moral anguish as a result of repentance and confession.
4.Apology should be free from excuse.
The best, real and sincere apology should not contain excuses or give a reason.
5.Apology should follow up with repentance and change.
Change to keep away from happening again. Avoid repeating the mistakes and apologies.
6.Apology results in restoration and restitution.
Attempts to make everything right and just.
Luke 19:8-" But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”
7.Sincere apology should have Revival and victory.
This is acquired by clearing yourself and becoming innocent after apology.
8.The final achievement of apology should bring rest and relief to the wrong doers.
Solution is the rest and relief from apology and forgiveness.
Therefore, use this to examine yourself. Do not go for fake and false apologies, this will make things worse.
