There have been rising cases of insecurity in the country over the past few months. This has been compounded by the fact that criminals continue to devise new ways to carry out their heinous acts.
On the evening of Saturday evening, police and DCI from Imenti North Constituency managed to arrest a 21 year old boy with an array of dangerous weapons.
The police were acting on a tip-off from members of the public who expressed suspicion of the activities of the said suspect, whose real name is Roy Thuranira Joseph. According to the police record, he hails from Mikinduri area within Meru County.
After receiving the tip-off, a joint team which comprised of Kenya Police and DCI Meru Branch was immediately formed and the elite team was led by SCPC of Imenti North. They tracked the suspect to Ikulu Bar and Restaurant along Meru Mikinduri Road, near Giaki junction.
A quick search was conducted on the area and the police found a motorcycle without a number plate on the parking lot of the hotel. Another suspect, Joseph Kimathi Thuranira (aged 23 years), who is the owner of the motorcycle was also arrested. Kimathi comes from Kianjai area.
A revolver Taurus pistol, a machete, one dagger knife, a club and an empty cartridge was recovered from the side pocket of the motorbike.
The two, who are believed to be accomplices, are suspected to have been intending to commit a crime. The police has since secured the exhibits so that it will be used as evidence against the two when they will be arraigned in Courts.
