Deputy president William Ruto's close allies have responded to the acquittal of the embattled Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru, by the select Senate committee who were tasked to hear and determine her impeachment.
They spoke out few moments after the Senate made the decision to save her career. The DP's lieutenants have always supported the Kirinyaga county Assembly lawmakers' idea involving the impeachment of Waiguru, that it should be heard and determined in a plenary session, where all senators would participate in decision making from the beginning to the end, and not in a committee stage.
Further, the Tanga Tanga brigade endorsed the MCAs and Kirinyaga residents' position that Waiguru's dethronement should be wound up at the Senate.
All Dr Ruto's close associates passed across a similar message which poured scorn at the decision made by the Malala-led team. They alleged that Waiguru's transgressions had been 'sanitized' by sympathizers of pro-handshake politicians (president Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga).
Nandi senator in a tweet, mimicked a TV advert on omo ('one wash' 'muosho moja'), which suggested that Waiguru's graft accusations had been 'washed' once.
Former Director of Digital and Diaspora Communication in the Office of the President of Kenya Dennis Itumbi also, alleged that the governor had been 'sanitized'.
Senator Kipchumba Murkomen mocked Senate's decision by noting that Kirinyaga residents had been sanitized.
Governor Anne Waiguru was impeached by Kirinyaga MCAs on grounds of ineptitude and lack of integrity. They accused the governor of engaging in graft and violating the Kenyan constitution while discharging her duties and responsibilities.
