Zamfara State Police Command has said that about three hundred and seventeen students, were at the early hours of Friday Feb 26, abducted from Government girls secondary school jangebe in zamfara State.
The school which is located within Talata mafara local government area of the state, came under siege by some hoodlums at about 1am on Friday morning, and whisked away the school girls, from their hostel.
The state commissioner of police, CP Abutu Yaro, while confirming the unfortunate incident said" a joint search and rescue operations is already underway, with a view to rescuing the 317 students kidnapped by the marauders. "Commander of operations HadarinDaji, Major General Aminu Bande, Brigade commander, 1 Brigade Nigerian Army Gusau and other state government officials, led by a heavily armed re enforcement team to jangebe, to complement the ongoing rescue operation in the locations where the students, were believed to have been whisked to.
Meanwhile the CP has appealed to the school principal and the parents of the abducted school girls to calm down as the joint efforts of the police and other security agencies will surely yield a positive result.
