Politcal Scientist, Professor Ransford Gyampo has criticized the majority group in Parliament for walking out of their own budget.
Ghanaians were shocked to see the majority caucus led by Osei Kyei Mensah walked out of Parliament last Friday during the approval process of the 2022 budget.
The walk out, according to some members of the majority was to protest the speakers directive for non-parliamentarians including the Finance Minister to leave the chamber before carrying out a division.
The group has since launched a spirited defence for their decision to walk out of Parliament as they believe that they have not been treated fairly.
But Professor Gyampo shares a contrary opinion. In a Facebook post, the senior political science lecturer posited that the decision to walk out of the House was not well thought through.
"The majority group's walk out of Parliament over their own budget was as tackless as Martin Amidu's decision to resign. Those who led this must sit up or be replaced. You sit to dialogue in a hung Parliament. You don't walk out".
Meanwhile the House is expected to resume sitting today. The general expectation is that both sides of the House will find a common ground by addressing the various issues raised to make way for the approval of the 2022 budget.
