Chili peppers popularly known as fresh pepper or Shombo as the locals call it, are the fruits of Capsicum pepper plant's and are notable for their hot flavour.
These peppers are primarily used as a spice and can be cooked or dried and powdered. Powdered, red chili peppers are known as paprika but some locals call it dried pepper.
The bioactive plant compound in this pepper is known as Capsaicin. This plant compound is responsible for their unique, pungent taste.
Despite the uniqueness in their taste, this kind of pepper is not good for everybody. If you have IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) then you should avoid this pepper. See the reason below;
