A child who stands 6ft 6in tall is said to be the world's tallest eight-year-old, measuring twice the height of several of his classmates.

Karan Singh, from Meerut, India, has been a record breaker his entire life, having been the heaviest and tallest baby at birth, according to the Guinness Book of Records. His father, Sanjay, 41, now hopes that his son's incredible height will be recognized once more.

“Karan weighed 7.8 kilograms and measured about 63 centimeters in length when he was born. As a result, he was immediately added to the record books.

“Then, at the age of five, he set the record for becoming the world's tallest child. Sanjay, whose son is already his height, said, "I want to get him into the Guinness Records again."

Karan is not the tallest member of his family, and he appears to owe his extraordinary stature to his mother Shweatlana, 33, who was rated India's tallest woman at 7ft 2in.

Shweatlana, 33, is a basketball player who has competed for India in a number of national and international competitions.

Although it's unclear what caused their extreme height, it's possible that both mother and son had too much growth hormone.
