On Monday, police in Gatanga, Murang'a county, detained a 34-year-old man who had married his 15-year-old niece. He snatched her up over the long Covid-19 school break.
The Man is also accused of forcing the girl to take birth control pills in order to prevent her from becoming pregnant.
The suspect was apprehended at his house in a joint operation by administrators and the police, according to Peter Muchemi, the local police chief.
"The child is in Class Seven, and her absence from school since classes resumed in August prompted the school's administration and security officials to launch an investigation into her whereabouts." We learned she was living with her uncle, who was sexually abusing her at the time,” he stated.
The girl has subsequently been handed over to the children's department, according to Mr Muchemi.
The girl is a Class Seven pupil and her absence from school since they resumed in August, led the school management and the security agents to commence a probe into her whereabouts.
