Senate President Ahmad Lawan has discredited cases that he got N2billion to affirm the second term of previous Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) executive, Mahmood Yakubu.
He challenged “the sponsors of the false publication to provide whatever evidence that they can in support of their glib claims.”
The official's response was contained in a statement on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Media, Ola Awoniyi.
Lawan noticed that purveyors of the phony news were being the charge.
The Yobe Senator said the report against him neglected to give the names of individuals from the informers and where the allegations comes from.
The assertion said the parliamentary process for the affirmation of nominations by the President is open and includes all senators.
The Senate President is just a presiding official of the Senate and doesn't lead any gathering in or outside the august chamber that demonstrations in any capacity to go around the cycles of the Senate.
"We promise Nigerians that the Senate President didn't get any satisfaction, for his or sake of others, to enable Professor Yakubu to get a second term as executive of INEC", it read.
