Manchester United suffered a disappointing defeat in their last crucial pre-season clash against Atletico Madrid on Saturday afternoon.

Ten Hag would be actually unhappy with his team's performance especially in the second half of the contest. United started the game brightly as they dominated possession and created a couple of good chances in the opening minutes of the game.

However, they couldn't manage to break Atletico Madrid's resilient defence despite their dominance in the first 45 minutes of play.

United were in total control in the early stages of the second half before Ten Hag reshuffled the team. The Dutch manager replaced McTominay and Martial with Christian Eriksen and Donny Van de Beek respectively.

Ten Hag's decision to reshuffle the middle of the park changed the tempo of the game. Atletico Madrid took control of the game, and managed to find the back of the net within the space of 10 minutes.

There is no doubt that Ten Hag's decision to take off McTominay and Martial at the same time gave Atletico Madrid the opportunity to control the game in the closing stages of the game.
