As it stands, the Basic Education department has been ordered by the Pretoria High court to publish the matric results on all public platforms. This comes after Afriforum sought to review the decision on an urgent basis.
Judge Anthony Millar said not everyone has access to the internet.Secondly,there are some who are no longer living in the area where their high school is based and might not be able to access their results timeously or even at all to start tertiary.
This matter has gotten more attention from the public, social media platforms particularly Twitter is flooded with reactions and comments to this matter.
former DA leader Mmusi Maimane said “Afriforum represents business interests, papers make millions in sale during this time of the year.Newspapers get finished around 2h00 in the morning ,let's get back to parliamentary democracy like Australia, which can overule the courts”
EFF Spokesperson Commissar DR Mbuyiseni Ndlozi also tweeted “Afriforum is the best machinery to protect white markets...government must appeal or they must be published provided it's free to do so. The taxpayer cannot be expected to pay print media when we have bigger problems than publishing matric results”
