The National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno, has announced the killing of the newly appointed ISWAP leader, Malam Bako.

Monguno revealed this to journalists on Thursday, October 21, 2021, shortly after the National Security Council meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at Aso Rock

Bako succeeded Abu Musab Al-Barnawi, the son of Boko Haram's founder, Mohammed Yusuf

Monguno's revelation comes a few days after the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, confirmed the death of Al-Barnawi

According to the NSA, the military has performed excellently in the North East in recent times.

The Nigerian military deserves commendation over the success recorded in the fight against terrorism in the North East in recent times. Even though the fight is not over, the military is currently doing well

In my opinion, these are some reasons why the military deserves commendation from Nigerians

1. The military offensive operation in the North East destabilised the terrorists, leading to internal conflict that led to the death of Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Malami, and ISWAP leader, Abu Musab Al-Barnawi.

2. The military operation also forced the terrorists to surrender to the authorities in mass in recent times.

3. When we appreciate the efforts of the military, it will boost their morale to do more.
