The groaning of students in the University of Jos has reached the stables of the National Association of Nigerian Students(NANS).

The students in the university were recently hit by a 50%increase in hostel accommodation fees by the school management in conjunction with the Student Union Government of the School. The Student lamented the increasing especially given the recent economic hardship facing the country.

Reacting to this development, the National Secretariat of NANS through the office of it's Public Relations Officer(P.R.O) Comrade Nanzing Nanla, faulted the move by the school authorities.

In an official memo released by the office of the P.R.O on January 14 2022 which was shared on the Comrade Nanla's Official Facebook handle, NANS maintained that there is no justification for the recent hike in hostel accommodation, especially since no major renovations have been carried out in the almost deplorable conditions of hostels in the institution.

In the memo tagged "NANS ZONE C STANDS WITH ZERO INCREMENT IN HOSTEL FEE IN THE UNIVERSITY OF JOS", the association called on the necessary authorities in the school management to review their decision of the increase in hostel fee until major renovation have been carried out in the hostel to justify the increase.
