A renowned Member of County Assembly (MCA) from Gatundu North in Kiambu County has been remanded in court for allegedly beating another man to death, suspecting him of having love affairs with his wife.
According to court reports, the alleged member of county assembly from Mt Kenya, his wife by the name Wambui Macharia together with other nine people have been remanded over murder allegations at their home in West View Estate in Juja town.
Appearing before the Chief Principal Magistrate in Thika Law Court, the suspects said to have gang up to beat the victim by the name Gerald Gichuhi mercilessly leaving him nursing several injuries on his forehead.
The victim was rushed to Thika level five hospital for medication but unfortunately he was announced death immediately on reaching the hospital, due to excessive bleeding and severe injuries.
Police presented their statements before the court indicating the suspects hit Gachugu Gichuhi in the forehead during that night at the MCA’s West View Estate home in Juja, Kiambu County, when bust him preying with MCA's wife.
While pleading with the court not to release the suspects, the investigating officer told the court that freeing them would complicate the investigations into the murder, with the likelihood of the suspects interfering with or intimidating the witnesses who are yet to testify in court, and who responded to the alarm raised by Gichuhi, before rushing him to the hospital.
“The four were together at the home of the ward rep. There was a disagreement that resulted in a serious confrontation that saw the deceased hit on the forehead,” Mr Kipketer told the court as he pleaded to be granted more days to conclude gathering evidence.
