Thomas Tuchel gave an interesting answer when asked where he thinks Kai Havertz’s best position is on the pitch as the former Leverkusen Player made his come back this week when his side was playing against Athletico Madrid.
The German attacker came off the bench to replace matchwinner Olivier Giroud in the 87th minute for the first time since January 31st where he got injured playing against Burnley. Haverts is believed to be one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe.
Kai has had a rough start in the premier league which many had not expected since he used to perform so well in the Bundesliga. He has netted only once since he made a moved from Bayer at a fee of £71,millions last summer. He has struggled to adapt to the English premier league as injuries have slow him down making him lose his feet.
Many football fans have been throwing critics to this German player as some say he should not have came to England. Tuchel has come out to defend the German as he told them there'll come a time when he'll find his feet again and will play at his best under Chelsea shirt.
When Tuchel was asked about Haverts best position in the Chelsea squad, this is what he had to say,
“He is a unique player,” Tuchel said.
“It’s not so clear where he needs to settle, does he need to settle on one special position? Or is he kind of a hybrid player. Today, I would say he’s in between a nine and a 10, something in between."
"He’s very comfortable in the box, he’s very comfortable in high positions, he’s very good in offensive headers, he has good timing to arrive in the box, good finishing, good composure in the box, around the box, and very comfortable in high positions so between nine and 10.”
Chelsea fans are hoping to see him at his best in the coming matches as there seems to be some glimpse of hope under their new manager Thomas Tuchel.
